LOVE (and its companion piece LOSS) are part of a series of work made in 2024 called Tax Included.

The source material for these works is my Daily Art Habit series. I make a digital painting every day. This is a practice I started in 2018 to reclaim my creative energy after a long hiatus from art. Since then, it has grown and evolved into a time-based series of autobiographical digital paintings – now built over more than 2200 consecutive days’ work.

LOVE is created from 147 different images from the series, selected for their pink, red or orange color.  Each image is printed as a four-inch postcard three times, then cut, folded and constructed into dimensional forms. The companion piece, LOSS is created from 144 images in the same method. The pieces are designed to share some of their imagery, with light surfaces for LOVE and dark for LOSS. Where the imagery overlaps, the  works share the same physical materials. LOSS was built first, photographed, then deconstructed and its pieces reconstructed into LOVE. 

Additional works in the Tax Included series include JOY and PAIN, and HOPE and FEAR.
